The Aesthetic Angle: The Power of the Finishing Touch

The Aesthetic Angle : The Power of the Finishing Touch

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get enough credit in interiors: the finishing touch. You know, the thing that makes the whole space feel done without trying too hard.

This week’s mood? Styled & Stemmed.

Because sometimes, it’s not about renovating your whole home, it’s about placing the right vase, with the right stem, in the right spot… and suddenly, everything sings.

Theme of the Week:

Elevated Everyday Styling: Vases, Pots & Faux Florals

These aren’t the florals of your nanna’s sitting room. We’re talking sculptural, textural, considered pieces that turn an empty shelf or sad side table into something intentional. The kind of styling that makes someone stop and go, “Wait… where did you get that?”

Inspo Source:

From high-end hotel lobbies to minimalist Pinterest scrolls, we’re seeing organic shapes, earthy tones, and faux florals that actually look expensive. Think muted pampas, tonal hydrangeas, wild foliage in soft terracotta's and textured neutrals.

The key? Imperfection. The slightly off-centre, artfully asymmetric, “I just threw this together” kind of styling. (Spoiler: we didn’t).

STYLEDas Interpretation:

This drop is about layering in beauty… simply.

Style Note:

How to Fake the Perfect Floral Moment

  • Odd numbers only: Always style in ones or threes, it keeps the eye moving.
  • Bend your stems: Faux's should never stand stiff. Gently bend or twist to mimic nature.
  • Use unexpected placements: Try florals on bookshelves, in bathrooms, or beside your bed. It’s the unexpected styling that feels most luxurious.

This is something new to me, I have always disliked faux flowers, but looking back at the quality in years past, who could blame me. But after seeing what is being produced now, I have to give this a go……
